Description

This is a very special Vrat & Puja which is done primarily by married women all across India for Longevity of their husbands life and Peace & Happiness in marital life. However, this Vrat is also done by unmarried girls for getting a good and perfect match. Generally, this Vrat is performed on the Amavasya (No Moon Night) of Jyeshtha month which is on 25th of May 2017 this year.

As per Hindu Mythology, Savitri’s husband was predicted to have a short life and consequently Lord Yama came to take him. However, Savitri by her sheer dedication and persistence, compelled Lord Yama to return the life of her husband and hence, this Vrat is dedicated to Devi Savitri for providing Long Life to Husband.

In this Vrat, a sacred thread is tied around a Banyan Tree. It is believed that Lord Brahma resides in the roots of Banyan Tree, Lord Vishnu in its trunk while Lord Shiva resides in the branches and leaves. Hence, it is believed that by worshipping under this Tree on the specific day, blessings of all the three Deities befall on the worshipper thereby granting a Long & Prosperous Life to her husband.
